General Terms & Conditions

DRIVER'S QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum driver's age is 25. Drivers between 21 - 24 years old can rent groups A, B and K after accepting an additional Young Driver Surcharge (YDS). Drivers over the age of 71 years are subject to a Senior Driver Surcharge. Drivers with a probationary driving license can't rent a vehicle.

YOUNG DRIVER SURCHAGE: Young Driver Surcharge (YDS) allows customers between 21 and 24 years of age to rent Groups A, B & K, under the condition that they hold a driver's license for at least 24 months prior to the pickup day, for an additional charge of €12/rental day, with a maximum charge amount of 15 days.

SENIOR DRIVER SURCHARGE: All drivers over the age of 71 are subject to an additional charge of 12€/rental day, with a maximum charge of 15 days.

DRIVER'S LICENSE: Every driver must meet the age requirements and must hold a valid driving license minimum 2 years, issued in Serbia (drivers with a probationary driving license can't rent a vehicle), the European Union or be a holder of a valid International Driving Permit.

PAYMENT METHOD: The driver must hold a valid credit accepted by Hertz for all necessary pre-authorization amounts as well as pre-payments and settlement of final rental charges.

GRACE PERIOD: At end of rental Hertz allows a further period of 29 minutes free of charge after which the renter will be charged a further full day.

EARLY RETURN / EXTENSION OF RENTAL: No refund for any unused voucher value/rental days. Ongoing rental extension should be arranged with Hertz Serbia at least 48 hours before the intended/reserved rental expiry, to be charged as per valid retail tariff.

LIABILITY OF THE RENTER: In case of damage to or loss of the rented car or part of it, as well as in case of fire, breakage of glass or theft, the Renter or any additional authorized drivers are fully liable.

COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (CDW): The renters liability for damage to the rented vehicle can be reduced, as per Rental Agreement's term and conditions, to minimum charge of 700€ for Groups A, B and K, 900€ for Groups C, D, L and M, 1200€ for Groups N and NM, 1600€ for Group YL, by paying daily a fee of €15,€18, €25 and €50 respectively.

SUPER COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER (SCDW)The renter may reduce the above liability to a minimum charge of 250€ for Groups A, B, K, 300€ for Groups C, D, L, M, 450€ for Groups N and NM, 600€ for Group YL, by purchasing the additional daily coverage, by paying an additional daily fee of €10, €13, €18 and €25 respectively.

Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) can be accepted only after acceptance of Collision Damage Waiver (CDW).

Liability may in no case be limited or cancelled for loss of keys, documents, damage to tires and wheel rims and any other part of the undercarriage of the vehicle, broken or damaged glass and in case when the client violates the conditions for use the vehicle or shall have operated the vehicle in contradiction with the rental agreement and/or the legal provisions.

THEFT PROTECTION (TPC): The renter's liability for theft can be reduced to 700€ for Groups A, B, K, 900€ for Groups C, D, L, M, 1200€ for Groups N and NM, 1.600€ for Group YL, by paying an additional daily fee of €7, €9, €12 and €25 respectively.

Theft Protection (TPC) does not cover theft of personal luggage and any theft if the client violates the terms of use of the vehicle or has operated the vehicle in violation of the rental agreement and/or legal provisions.

SUPER COVER (SUP): Τhe renter can be covered (with zero excess) in case of total damage or theft to the Hertz vehicle, provided that the renter has previously accepted the relevant coverage charges for CDW, SCDW, and TPC, or has a reservation inclusive of these coverages, by paying additionally a daily fee of €6 for Groups A, B, K, €8 for Groups C, D, L, M, €10 for Groups N and NM and €12 for Group YL.

Payment of the amount specified for SUPER COVER does not exclude the renter’s liability for the loss of vehicle documents and keys, damage to tires and rims or any other part of the vehicle’s undercarriage, broken or damaged glass, a burnt clutch, any damage resulting from lack of oil or from the use of incorrect fuel, damage to the vehicle caused by explosion, mining or intentional arson, damage resulting from driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other legally prohibited substances, damage caused by an unauthorized driver, as well as in all other cases where the RENTER has violated the conditions of vehicle use or has operated the vehicle contrary to the Rental Agreement and/or in an illegal manner.

TYRES & WINDSCREEN PROTECTION (TGI): The renter's liability for damage to tires, the windscreen, side windows and rear window of the car can be reduced, as per Rental Agreement's Terms & Conditions, to 0€, for an additional daily charge of €5 for Groups A, B and K, €7 for Groups C, D, L, M, €10 for Groups N and NM and €12 for Group YL.

PERSONAL ACCIDENT COVERAGE (PAC): For a daily charge of €8 (with a maximum charge of 15 days) drivers are insured in case of an accident involving a rented vehicle. Amounts insured are in accordance with valid terms and conditions of the insurance company.

INCIDENT ADMINISTRATION FEE (IAF): IAF applies to cover the administrative costs related to processing an accident, damage, or traffic/police fine during the rental period. The fee is €30 and charged per incident, regardless of fault.

FUEL POLICY: For rental durations of 1-2 days, the customer should return the car with the same quantity of fuel as shown at the time of pickup. In the event that the customer returns it with less quantity, the customer will be charged the value of the missing fuel. Additionally, a Refueling Service Charge will be applied, which today is €25.

For rental durations of three (3) days or more, the customer is required to prepay the cost of the quantity of fuel which is in the tank of the rented car at the pickup time. Upon returning the car –and only at this time– the customer may ask to be refunded with the value of the fuel in the tank at that time. In this instance, if the quantity of fuel in the tank is less than the one the customer has prepaid, then the Refueling Service Charge will be applied, which today is 25€. Any refund due will be processed through a customer’s credit card.

The price per litre of fuel used is the average fuel price for the area where the car was rented. The Refueling Service Charge is €25, while Hertz reserves the right to change it in the future without prior notice. Any fuel refunds, disputes etc. must be resolved with Hertz staff at the time of the vehicle’s return. Hertz will not consider any disputes once the final invoice has been issued.

WINTERIZATION FEE: Winterization Fee covers the cost of kitting a rental car out with winter equipment; It concerns rental periods from 1st of November until 1st of April - although it may be extended. Included in rate.

SNOW CHAINS: Show Chains are available at a rate of 8 per day/per item, with a maximum charge equivalent to 15 rental days per rental.

TRAFFIC AND PARKING FINES: All parking and traffic fines, as well as additional prohibitions resulting from violations of the Traffic Law of the Republic of Serbia during the rental period, are the sole responsibility of the RENTER. If the renter fails to act in accordance with the instructions received, Hertz reserves the right to charge the full amount of the fines, with an administrative fee, which is currently set at €30/per case.

CROSS BORDER FEE: All vehicles except luxury categories might be allowed to travel abroad under special conditions and only on request from the local Hertz Office. Requests must be made in advance of the rental pick up date and the cost is 60€. Driving to Albania & Kosovo is not allowed.

ADDITIONAL DRIVERS: Only one driver is authorized to drive the car. Each additional driver can be added for an extra charge of €8/per driver/per day (with a maximum charge of 15 days).

CHILD SEATS: Available on request with a charge of €9 per day/per item (with a maximum charge of 15 days).

GPS: Available on request with a charge of €9 per day/per item (with a maximum charge of 15 days).

DELIVERY/COLLECTION FEE: Delivery/Collection outside Hertz Serbia offices is available on a request basis. Minimum charge for Delivery or Collection close to a Hertz Serbia station is 30€ per Delivery/Collection.

AFTER WORKING HOURS DELIVERY/RETURN FEE: After working hours delivery/return fee is charged €40/per case.

RENT HERE - LEAVE IT THERE: It is applied to be charged for all rentals that are returned to a different city where a Hertz office is located. Price on request. Rentals between two locations (airport/ city offices) in the same city are free of charge.

ROAD ASSISTANCE: Road Assistance option is available to all renters – included in the rates.

MILEAGE: A limit of 150 kilometeres per day applies to 1and 2 days’ rentals. Any excess of this limit will result in additional charge, depending on the car group:

USE OF CIGARETTES IN THE VEHICLE: The use of any type of cigarettes in the rented vehicle is strictly prohibited. If a Hertz company representative determines upon return of the vehicle that the renter has used any form of cigarettes during the rental period, an additional charge for deep cleaning of the vehicle will be applied.

FLEET AVAILABILITY: Hertz reserves the right to provide a different car model to that originally reserved of an equivalent or higher model type.

VAT: All rental and additional prices are subject to VAT – 20%.
